In this Gallery you can find samples of our engraved wood travel photo albums, travel scrapbooks, vacation journals and honeymoon photo albums.
We use laser engraving on veneer wood. This veneer wood album covers are about as thick as paper covers. They are durable but flexible. They will not break with normal wear and tear. Although of course it is possible to over-bend them and break them.
These album covers do not have added color, which some may see as a disadvantage, but we believe it just gives them even more natural characteristics. We use laser engraving and laser cutting to add the design to the covers.
We cut the map of your choice and then engrave the wood with your personalization. You can add names, quotes, dates, even short messages.
Behind the front cover there is a color paper page which shows through the cutout on the front cover. That gives a truly unique contrast. As if a wood cover album was not unique enough already…
Pages are black or marble color. And you can use glue, tape or photo corners to fix your photos on them.
Lastly, we use 3 rings to hold the album together. There are several colors of rings you can choose from.
But these beauties can not only be used as photo albums, they are great for scrapbooks or travel journals as well. And anybody would be happy to be gifted with one of these wood cover albums.
Currently we offer 9 wood species for wood albums: aspen, maple, cherry, birch, birdseye maple, oak, walnut, eastern and western cedar.
Some of these wood species has more contrast between the engraved surface and the wood itself, like aspen, cherry or oak, some of them, like birch has less. Some of them has richer wood grain, some has less characteristic grain. Porous woods, such as oak and walnut do not engrave as well due to the open grain on the surface of the wood. Engraving on a dark wood like walnut, may not appear as legible as compared to lighter colored wood species.
It is very interesting and important to know that variation in color, figure and other natural characteristics including thickness, translucency, texture, grain pattern, wood knots, amount of grain and color, including within the same wood specie, can occur.
Wood albums are eco-friendly, natural and use way less wood for their covers than paper cover albums. And last but not least, they smell amazing!
